STAGE 1 – INITIAL ASSESSMENT & LOGICAL LEVEL RECOVERY

  • Each case begins with a “Free Initial Diagnostic” to determine the potential for data recovery.
  • The initial diagnosis determines the type of Data Loss, Type of Recovery Required & Chances of a Successful Data Recovery. We use state-of-the-art Data Recovery Software & Hardware Tools to maximise the chances of data recovery at the lowest cost.
  • If the results are positive the priority is to create a raw image of the data to avoid further data loss. No Data – No Fee applies if zero data is irrecoverable.
  • Based on the Results a Quote is provided and You can then decide whether to proceed or not.

STAGE 2 - FOR COMPLEX RECOVERIES & CLEAN ROOM SERVICE

  • If your media requires service/repair or clean room services (Physical Damage, Mechanical or Electronic Failure) to obtain a Drive Image necessary for data recovery, an upfront fee may be applicable to cover these costs which will also include any spare parts or donor drives if necessary.
  • Once the Data Image has been obtained, we will then provide a Quote to Recover Your Data based on the Results.
  • Once we have the approval we will endeavour to complete the data recovery process and transfer the files to an external storage media.

DATA RECOVERY - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Please stop using a faulty or damaged drive immediately to prevent further damage. The chances of successful data recovery are higher at a lower cost depending on the type of damage and condition of the drive. Please stop using the drive to save yourself time & money.

Data recovery is a job requiring special skills and expertise. It also requires specialised software tools and equipment. If not done correctly it can cause irreparable damage and permanent data loss. Please research and choose your data recovery partner carefully.

If you are experiencing any of the following your drive may have failed or you may have an impending drive failure:

  • BIOS does not recognise or access your hard drive.
  • Your hard drive is making odd or abnormal noises.
  • Your hard drive continually restarts on its own.
  • You receive a boot failure.
  • You hear nothing (silent) from your hard drive with the computer powered up.
  • Your computer warns you that there are problems on the hard drive and wants you to run a disk utility.
  • Your drive causes the computer to hang in the BIOS or causes the computer to function very slowly.
  • Some or all of your files, folders or the drive itself can’t be found in Explorer.

WARNING – IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS, TURN YOUR COMPUTER/DRIVE OFF IMMEDIATELY! FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO YOUR DRIVE. PLEASE CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL & HAVE THE DRIVE EVALUATED

Odd or abnormal noises are a result of a drive failure or an indication of an impending drive failure. If you hear odd or abnormal noises from your hard drive, power down the computer and stop using the drive immediately. Continued use could render your data unrecoverable. Typically, noises from a hard drive indicate a physical problem with the drive. If you hear grinding, buzzing or clicking noises consult a professional and have your drive evaluated.

Here at Precision Data Recover Brisbane, we normally assess your drive within 24 hrs. Depending on the results of the assessment and the degree of damage to the drive the recovery process usually takes 7 – 10 working days, however, are some cases drives may image very slowly and can take a little longer. We understand that your data is important to you, and can offer a priority service if required.

This is by far the most common question we get asked here at Precision Data Recovery Brisbane.

The initial assessment of your drive costs nothing. Once we have ascertained the degree of damage to the drive, one of our technicians will call you with a firm quote to recover your data. You then have the option to go ahead, or simply pick up your drive. Data recovery is divided into 5 tiers.

Data Recovery is a complex process and it is difficult to quote without assessing the drive. It can be as low as $95 for jobs that require simple data recovery from operational hard disk drives, USB drives & SD Flash Cards and can range from a few thousand for complex RAID System Data Recovery.

The table will give you an idea of the costs involved with the type of data recovery required. This information is a guideline based on our 24-year data recovery experience.

Please keep in mind that there will be NO HIDDEN SURPRISES & WE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH AN OBLIGATION-FREE QUOTE before proceeding so you can decide whether it is worth spending to get the data recovered.

  • Class 1 Jobs - $95 ~ $195 Jobs that have simple logical, firmware, or Drive Imaging problems.
  • Class 2 Jobs - $195 ~ $395 Complex jobs with Data Encryption, Firmware Repair, and Sticking Heads.
  • Class 3 Jobs - $395 ~ $895 PCB Repairs, Rom Programming and Other Complex Problems (No Clean Room).
  • Class 4 Jobs - From $795 Clean Room Head & Platter Replacements, Low-End NAS, Simple RAID Arrays.
  • Class 5 Jobs - Quoted Per Case: Complex Clean Rooms Jobs with Damaged Platters & Stripe RAID Systems

Special requests outside the above scope will be quoted on inspection. A $250 non-refundable deposit is generally required on class 4 and 5 jobs to cover our clean room costs. This deposit is deducted from the final quote on successful data recovery.

In all the above cases our "No Data no Charge Policy" will apply for your "Total Peace of Mind"

Hard drives are sealed to prevent dust entry. A single speck of dust landing on a hard drive platter can cause irreparable damage. A clean room is used for drive inspections and physical recovery of data. The clean room is a controlled environment. It operates within specific requirements to ensure dust particles bigger than half a micron are removed. Your hard drive will be open while we are repairing and/or replacing damaged parts. This is a lengthy process and this air quality is needed to protect your drive and your data.

You may have seen DIY videos on YouTube where someone opens a hard drive on the kitchen bench to try and free stuck read heads – THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PRACTISE AND ALMOST ALWAYS RESULTS IN RENDERING YOUR HARD DRIVE USELESS!

Here at Precision Data Recovery Brisbane, We have an average success rate of over 91%. We have been in business since 1993. We are very good at what we do, as many of our clients will attest.

Yes. There are instances where the damage to the hard drive is so severe that data recovery is not possible. This usually occurs when the read/write heads actually "crash" and gouge the magnetic storage media to the point where the data is destroyed.

However, in several cases, data recovery was possible at the time the damage first occurred but became non-recoverable because the client failed to turn the drive off at the first sign of an issue or the client has tried to use free or commercial recovery software. This software is designed to recover data from working drives. If your drive has experienced a mechanical or electrical failure, the use of recovery software can cause permanent loss of your data

Precision Data Recovery Brisbane offers clients a secure environment so that they can rest easy knowing that their information is kept private. Every member of the Precision team is under non-disclosure. The evaluation and recovery process is conducted in secure labs with controlled access to ensure the confidentiality of your data. None of our LAB servers connect to the internet or upload to the cloud.

Here at Precision Data Recovery Brisbane, We regularly receive drives from all over the country, so if you can’t bring it in personally to one of our centres, then you will need to ship it via an INSURED COURIER.

Your hard drive/Thumb drive/SSD must be packaged carefully to avoid any additional damage during shipment. Only your drive is required for data recovery. If we are required to remove a hard drive from the computer an additional charge may apply.

Wrap the hard drive in an anti-static material. If an anti-static bag is not available to you, a freezer bag will suffice. We recommend shipping the drive in its original manufacturer's packaging. If this is not possible, pack the hard drive in a sturdy cardboard box twice the size of the drive, with heavy foam padding, bubble wrap or other anti-vibration materials such as crumpled-up newspaper. Do not use Styrofoam peanuts as they attract static electricity. Be sure the padding material is at least two inches thick around the drive.

REMEMBER TO SHIP IT VIA REGISTERED POST/COURIER WITH THE TRACKING NUMBER, INSURANCE AND SIGNATURE REQUIRED.

We will try our best to get the folder structure intact. Sometimes an exact recovery isn’t possible if the data is badly damaged – in which case we conduct a RAW File recovery based on file types.

The answer is “ Yes – We Do” and we have a very high success rate on RAID Data Recovery. RAID devices can get complicated depending on the type of RAID deployed. We will assess the drive and provide a quotation before we proceed with any sort of recovery.

We offer data recovery from mobile phones including Apple iPhones. Damaged devices do require to be split open at times to access the flash memory for data recovery purposes. There is a $150 upfront charge to do mobile phone data recovery which is then taken off your final bill. Mobile phone recoveries can get expensive and we only recommend them if the data is critical.

It is difficult to give an exact price, but once we complete our free evaluation, you will be given a no-obligation quote of the exact cost of recovery.

On average, standard turnaround time is between 7-14 days. Expedited Services are available upon request:
